First, what exactly is social media?

Social media is the new form of communicating with each other.  Instead of having one person’s view, mainly like newspapers and TV networks, it is everyone’s input or opinion through blogging, commenting, and chatting on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.  Social media is the collaboration and sharing of thoughts and ideas via the web.

Wikipedia defines it as:

Social media is media designed to be disseminated through social interaction, created using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. Social media uses Internet and web-based technologies to transform broadcast media monologues (one to many) into social media dialogues (many to many). It supports the democratization of knowledge and information, transforming people from content consumers into content producers.

So why does social media matter?

I know I haven’t personally explained much about “why social media matters”, but here at my blog I will be offering my advice in regards to social media (explaining it along the way). This is just one of three services I plan on offering you (more on its way).

Hello everyone!

If you have been visiting this blog periodically you may have noticed it taking many different transformations. These transformations have been design (themes), what content would be posted, and what overall purpose I wanted my personal blog to partake.

So have I come to a finalization?

Yes, in terms of the overall purpose I have, but realize the theme will change just like with any other blog as it develops.

With that said, the overall purpose of my personal blog (here) is to offer lots of advice and services.  These services will be activities that I already do on a regular basis and have had many experience with them.  The advice will be centered around the following:

Bloggging, Twitter, Facebook, and really everything in between (but not too much, because that would lose focus).

Ever since I wrote the previous post, “Taking a New Direction!” I have been thinking of the true purpose I want for this blog.

Judging by the domain name “Blog of DJJ1758″ my original intent was to make this my true personal blog with the niche just being anything that really interests me.  This original intent will still continue, because I feel this will allow me to discover any new niche that I may have and start a possible new blog  With already having two blogs, LifeNotion and New Sketch Planning, with two distinct niches I am out to make this a blog full of diverse posts.

So, today I have decided to work on offering you and all of the people I connect with services.  These services are what I basically do and love to do on a daily to weekly basis. You can find the “services” page (still in the works) here.

One thing is clear though, I will try to post articles that are very different to see what comments spark where and possibly what could be my next niche.

Hello fellow readers and the general public,

I have chosen to take a different direction with this blog. The posts I have already written are random thoughts that I had and that I loved to publish to make you all aware of my thoughts and opinions.  This is what a blog is supposed to be right?

Well I believe along with my fellow friends and bloggers that you cannot really just blog about anything, you need a niche.  A niche is something that gives your blog, in this case this blog, a purpose for readers like you to expect.  Right now you do not expect anything because the posts I write are very random from each other and that is because I would write whatever was in my head.

To tell you the truth this does not help me nor help you.  So, I have decided today to take a new direction with my personal blog.

The blog of djj1758, which is my name on web since there are so many Derek Jensen’s, will be my true personal blog.

Not a blog full of comments about what people have already wrote. Not a blog with random posts that really make you uncertain what the next post is even going to be about.  This blog is going to represent me, my feelings, and much more but all related to one niche.

Here is the niche…

See the thing is is that I am not too sure what my niche will be as of right now.

Please provide your thoughts to whether I should keep this blog with the changed niche or if a new domain/blog is needed?

Many of you know that this past September I started a blog called, LifeNotion.  It’s tagline is: “Tip to Help You Apply Technology in Your Life”

And many of you might know the very popular blog, that I read everyday (Pete Cashmore is my idol).  He is not only the same age as I am, but he shares the same love with me in blogging about the latest technology.

Well, since the beginning of Mashable, Pete has hired writers to write constantly about the latest news in regards to social media or really anything new on the web.  Now, I have had many past blogs that all dealt with this same subject.  The trouble I was having was that I ended up really just reporting what was already reported, but I added my dollar amount of thoughts.  But, I have developed and imagine LifeNotion to be different.

LifeNotion is going to be a blog that takes anything related to technology and applies it to how someone can use it in their life.

I have always wanted a tree house, but I am pretty sure they have never looked like this one.  Although I have always wanted to design a house, which would be mine, that flows and is apart of the surrounding nature.

This house certainly is apart of nature.

Google does it again by recognizing something special today.

Today is the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street.

I remember back when I was that age, sitting in front of the television during the afternoon and watching Sesame Street. Sesame Street was one of my favorite TV shows, just like many other children. What is unbelievable is how the show has been going on for 40 years now. When I watched a celebration video via PBS it brought back those memories that I cherished so much as a child. Elmo was, of course, my favorite along with Cookie Monster.

Think about how many children Sesame Street has educated to know the basics in education for counting to learning their ABC’s.

But, now there are shows like Dora the Explorer and wanna-be Sesame Street shows. When I become a father, I would want my children to watch and gain their some of their education from Sesame Street. I would want them to watch it because they must be doing something right if they are celebrating their 40th Anniversary and because it would give me an excuse to watch it again.

After seeing Michael Jackson’s documentary, “This Is It“, there was one song besides his new one that stood out to me. This song was released in 1995, so it is not new by any means, but it is very meaningful espescially in our current times. The song is “Earth Song”

In Earth Song, Michael Jackson blames us, humans, for destroying the natural environment and he displays it in a very inspiring video (embedded below).

When watching the new movie, This Is It, Michael has a new video to go along with this song and it just makes you want to go out and save our environment.

I always find it amazing how sometimes a certain song or artist, like Michael Jackson, can inspire so many people to do great things with their life. Again, thank you Michael Jackson.

Very recently I have started my new blog project called, LifeNotion. LifeNotion is a blog that provides tips on how to apply technology in your life. So, it takes any technology out in our world right now and applies it to several lifestyles at a time.

For instance, say a new gadget came out. Well, I would write an post about this new gadget more than once, but they would not be exactly the same. They would share the same information in regards to what the gadget is, but how it is explains and why it matters will be different depending on the lifestyle (category).

Currently, I only have four posts on LifeNotion, but there are many more in the works. The images below show what I was talking about with the a new GE device being in both “Home Living” and “Health”. Additionally, the How-to video sites are in “Going Green” and “Something Educational”.

Please realize that the categories above are not the only categories I will be focusing my posts around. There are going to be a list of about 8 or so with the other categories like business, on-the-go, and helping out others.
